Brecon Motor Club are back in Talgarth with the Black Mountains Classic Tour this Sunday 30th June!
The Classic Tour is a non-timed scenic tour for classic vehicles and is a round of the Historic Rally Car Register’s series of tours held around the UK for road going cars, entries have been received from the owners of a large variety of classics from historic and vintage cars through to rally cars from the past such as Ford Escorts, Cortina’s, Volvos and Mini’s. Entries include classic sports cars like MG’s, Triumph’s, Jaguar’s, Austin Heeley’s, Alfa Romeo’s, Morgan’s and Porsche’s. There are classic saloons such as Austin’s, Morris’s, a Standard, a Riley plus rare classics such as a Gilbern and a Jensen.
The scenic tour uses a different route each year and route co-ordinator David McIntyre has selected some of the best roads and lanes with beautiful scenery along the way, this year the participant with follow a pre-determined route through the Welsh Marches, along the eastern boundary of Breconshire and up into Radnorshire with a lunch halt at Knighton Cricket Club.
The participating vehicles will leave Gwernyfed Rugby Club in Talgarth flagged off by Club President Mr Brian Dennis of The Old Forge Garage Llanigon. The participants will leave in procession one at a time from 9.30am before visiting Boughrood, Erwood, Llansantfraed-in-Elwel, arriving in Penybont from 10.30am, then moving on to Crossways, before crossing the border over Offas Dyke to the communities of Anchor and Bettws-y-Crwyn arriving in Knighton at 12.30pm. After lunch the procession of cars will travel through the communities of Knucklas, Whitton, Walton, Gladestry, Glascwm. Painscastle, Glasbury, Velindre before finally returning to Talgarth Square where they will be received from 3.30pm by the Mayor of Talgarth.
