Thieves Again, Sketches from the Black Mountains is an ongoing research and development project by filmmaker Siôn Marshall-Waters in collaboration with artist Stefhan Caddick and Peak.
Employing methodologies associated with ethnographic filmmaking, documentary photography and soundscaping, the project explores ways of evoking the lived experiences and perspectives of the region. The project addresses various aspects of community, identity and belonging in contemporary Welsh agriculture and rural life.
Siôn is working closely with communities at Partrishow, Forest Coal Pit, Waun Fach and Abergavenny to create a series of vignettes that draw on the mundane, surreal and poetic aspects to living in the Black Mountains.
This phase of the research culminates in an exhibition and film screening in Llangenny on Saturday 27 April 2019.
