Like many of you, we suspect, we've had a hectic and upredictable year at FYI Network, which included meetings with Google, Facebook and a fascinating Amazon event at the Celtic Manor. ... Little David mixing it with some gianormous Goliaths...
We volunteer at FYI for the most part, so we like to make web content that has best return for our time and fits with our aims. Here's what we've experimented with and learnt in 2018:
*Your most favourite time to visit FYI - across all sites - is 10pm at night. We're excited to be your virtual Ovaltine
*At FYI Carmarthen, we experimented with video relating to culture and history. You liked these videos with views near to a couple of thousand on average.
* Enough of you subscribe to our newsletter, that we now have to pay to distribute it. This is lovely and thank-you - we'll keep then coming...
* Our Instagram workshop in Carmarthen filled very quickly and was a big hit. Thanks to Sarah MacDonald who delivered it - and we're hoping she'll do another one some time in the future.
* The Amazon workshop emphasized how important newsletters are, especially in the light of 'volatility' on some of the established platforms. And also how important it is for small operators to have the same name repeating in different locations online, and with readily identifiable keywords.
* Top content on FYI sites included : Bay Ferries starting in Carmarthen, Alabama Rot coming to Brecon and the Black Mountains College initiative being announced in Talgarth.
Thanks for using FYI this year, and please remember, it's free to upload here, we take no advertising and our aim is to help our Welsh communities connect better with opportunities and what's on.
