* Above - Silhouettes of the ' There but not there' Campaign were seated at the front of the hall.
Talgarth and District Regeneration Group hosted a special WW1 Homecoming Commemorative Ball in the Town Hall on Saturday. Members of the Group and Community were treated to a Drinks Reception below the Town Hall, where exhibits from the Talgarth Historical Society were on display. Canapes were served and afterwards the guests moved upstairs to the Town Hall.
The Hall aptly decorated with bunting and banners and in a WW1 theme was beautifully done by the Group and volunteers. At the front of the hall, a table was set and the seats were filled with the 'There but not there' Silhouettes of fallen soldiers, each named with a soldier who perished in the War. After a splendid dinner prepared, cooked and served by the wonderful volunteers of the Talgarth Luncheon Club (who received a standing ovation for the wonderful meal), the guests were entertained by the group 'Trenchfoot' who specialise in singing bespoke songs reflecting on the lives and experiences of those caught up in the First World War. The Welsh Folk Group who have previously played in the Tabernacle Venue in Talgarth were fantastic! Following the first set, Singer Lorraine King led the guests in some community Singing. After a short break, Trenchfoot took the stage for their second set. The evening finished with some dancing and finally, the Last Post was played marking a poignant tribute the men and women who took part in the Great War. The National Anthems of Wales and the UK were sung before the evening was wrapped up.
Thanks were given to the Proprietor Dave, of the Wheelwright's Arms in Erwood for providing the bar.
