* "Way of the World" Hereford winning Racehorse with Trainer Sheila Lewis of Three Cocks.
The Annual Talgarth Festival took place on the Bank Holiday weekend. With lovely sunny weather kicking off the first day the two-day festival, it was officially opened by a guest appearance of the beautiful Hereford Race Course winner 'Way of the World' trained by local Sheila Lewis of Three Cocks, Sheila an established Race Horse trainer led the magnificent winner through the streets. It was fantastic to see this amazing horse in the Square.
Joining them at the official opening was Talgarth Town Mayor and Town and County Cllr for Talgarth, William Powell. Sue Lewis, Chair of the Talgarth Festival Group thanked everyone for coming and also gave thanks to the army of volunteers who put the event together.
The festival sites included the Church Hall, St Gwendoline's Church, the Town Hall, a fayre and artisan market at Talgarth Market, a Dog Show, The Bell Gardening Club. Along with this were stalls and activities located in and around the Square area. With music, children's events and a special display by our own Talgarth Fire Crew, there was plenty to see and do.
The culmination of the two days was the annual duck race along the River Ennig, and after the recent downpours, it was more like a Tsunami of ducks possibly the quickest race ever! Well done to the winners and many thanks who despite the damp turned out to support it!
Here are some of our images and also donated images with thanks to Julie Evans and Jody Lewis for images of Way of the World.
