FYI learns of residents fury at the state of the recycling area in Talgarth this weekend. FYI can report that many residents are becoming increasingly concerned with the misuse of the recycling bins and garden waste units in the only FREE carpark in Talgarth. One angry resident who had been gardening on Sunday struggled with a wheelbarrow to the recycling to find that all the garden waste bins appeared full of trees and what looked like lots of commercial gardening waste. Despite many people having left cuttings in bags and on the floor, this particular resident took the waste home as not to contribute the terrible mess already there.
FYI with a couple of residents inspected the area in the vicinity of the garden refuse and glass and cardboard recycling. When we checked further we found many many bags of what looked like either a venue waste or possibly personal waste. In one of the bags, we discovered masses of paper covered in human excrement! The area designated for 'SMALL ELECTRICAL ITEMS' was equally as bad. It seems people can no longer be bothered to drive to Brecon, as we discovered childrens', toys, a chest of draws, a garden chair to name some of the items. What is more shocking is this was on display on the weekend, when Talgarth was particularly full of visiting members of the public. Surely something must be done! Not only does this all look a mess but it is a potential health hazard too, especially with a local guest house in the vicinity! We will update you with any feedback from the County and Town Councils on this issue. But PLEASE if you must recycle do it responsibly! This reflects badly on everyone in Talgarth!
The roll of shame.... mugs, plates, human waste, food waste, chest of draws, children's toys, among just some of the items 'fly tipped' ....time to turn on the CCTV!!!!
