Welsh Labour Councillors have slammed the Tory/Independent-run Council’s budget and urged the administration to rethink its cuts agenda.
The County Council met in Llandrindod Wells to set its budget for the 2018/19 financial year with nearly £8.5 million of cuts proposed by the Cabinet.
Cllr David Thomas, Welsh Labour’s Finance Spokesperson said:
“The Tory/Independent-run Council has produced a budget that could be a pre-cursor for financial Armageddon.
“The losers will be our residents who will have an intolerable burden placed on them because of another round of service cuts and increasing Council Tax.”
Welsh Labour Group Leader, Cllr Matthew Dorrance added:
“Together, Tory and Independent Councillors have put forward a budget that works for the few not the many.
“The Powys they want to create will leave too many communities without the services we depend on and force more residents into poverty.
“Welsh Labour are defending our communities and fighting to protect the services residents rely on.”
