The North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent (NMWTRA) will be undertaking Routine maintenance cyclic activities (eg grass cutting, gully emptying, cats eyes replacement, etc.) on the A479 utilising a daytime road closure, 8am to 6pm, 23rd to 27th October 2017. Other works promoters have been encouraged to carry out works on the route during the road closure period, to reduce future traffic disruption on the A479, and it has also been arranged to undertake carriageway resurfacing at Waun Fach.
The resurfacing site at Waun Fach will be physically closed to all traffic between Pont-y-Blaenau and Glan-y-nant (Grid Refs: 318415, 226035 to 318505, 226900). The routine maintenance activities will commence at the resurfacing site (Glan-y-nant) and work northwards within a controlled rolling road closure section towards the junction with the C0087 Trewalkin (Grid Ref: 315658, 232170) approx. 1 mile south of Talgarth. As the works proceed northwards there will be periods where access for residents and businesses fall between the two closed sections. It is intended to allow access through the routine maintenance site for residents and local businesses but beware there will be delays as operations need to be made safe prior to allowing traffic through. There will be no access through the resurfacing site at Waun Fach. “Road Ahead Closed Access Only” signs will be in place at the A40/A479 Jctn and at Gwernyfed Rugby Club Roundabout, Talgarth. The signed diversion route is A479 to Bronllys, A438 to Pontybat, A470 to Brecon, A40 to Nantyffin to re-join the A479 and vice versa for traffic travelling in the opposite direction.
