This strange photograph seems to have caused Talgarth residents a huge problem at night. It has been brought to our attention that since this photo went viral on the internet recently and was picked up by one of the National newspapers, there has been a significant amount of traffic around the Town during the early hours by so called 'ghost hunters'.
FYI speaking to some local residents said have been forced to speak to Dyfed Powys Police nightly in the past few days filing reports of anti-social behaviour, following a stream of cars some with loud music playing, pouring in to the Town late at night searching for the old Asylum.
An image of what many believed to be a ghost's face in the window of the former Mid Wales Hospital went viral.
The image was taken in one of the window's of the Hospital site in the Talgarth. The site currently derelict and owned by Collins Design & Build of Hereford is awaiting development and is not open to the general public and due the site's current state of dereliction is extremely hazardous. Indeed NO ONE should attempt to access the property.
The story was picked up Nationally.... "I caught an epic shot of a ghost at the abandoned Brecon and Radnor Lunatic Asylum," passerby Adam Smith told one of the press tabloids of the photo he took.
"Maybe it was a patient who had a lobotomy or perhaps a soldier patient from the war or maybe a Nazi prisoner. Whatever it was, it certainly gave me a fright."
Smith uploaded the picture to social media, and it quickly went viral.
"I started to get messages from local residents and councilors asking me that I remove it because hundreds of people were turning up at the hospital to try to find the ghost," he said. It appears he was not wrong and the situation seems to be escalating!
The picture now blamed for the unwanted attention to the site is not only located in the outskirts of Town, but to get to it you have to pass through largely residential areas. Locals are keen that the deluge of night time tourists halts!
One resident complained that not only do the cars often appear lost that they keep driving up and down the High Street whilst apparently waiting for more 'ghost hunters' to join them!
Speaking to the Talgarth Town Mayor 'Andrew Lord' he had this to say " We strongly advise anyone not to visit the site during the night or daytime due to the extremely hazardous state that it currently finds itself. Not only are there hidden trenches and pits, but the site is filled with extremely dangerous Asbestos, we urge people to stay away!".
All enquiries regarding the site should be direct to the owners:
