BREAKING THE CYCLE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ABUSE: A talk by Cheryl Clarke from Calan DVS about working in partnership to achieve change through education, prevention and empowerment

The Friends of Brecon and District Mind have invited Cheryl Clarke from Calan DVS to the Muse, Glamorgan Street, Brecon, on Wednesday 16 October to talk about 'Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Violence and Abuse'. She will explain how working in partnership can achieve change through education, prevention and empowerment.
Domestic Abuse is the actual or threatened physical, emotional, psychological, sexual or financial abuse of a person by a partner, family member or someone with whom there is, or has been, a close relationship.
Calan DVS help and support people to live free from domestic abuse. It believes that education and leadership are building blocks to prevent domestic violence. Its prevention and education programmes work with individuals, communities and organisations to identify strategies that promote healthy individuals, relationships and communities.
Calan DVS's emergency accommodation may be accessed at any time, day or night, for 365 days a year. It is designed as temporary and safe to protect individuals and any children, enabling them to recover from an immediate crisis, access support and consider options in a safe and supported environment.
Calan DVS supports individuals and their families in their communities. Its community services team works with individuals and their children in their own homes and in their communities providing information and support.

The Friends of Brecon and District Mind support the work of Brecon and District Mind and raise awareness of mental health issues in and around Brecon, Crickhowell, Talgarth and Hay-on-Wye. They holds talks, walks, social activities and fund-raising events.
