Talgarth Christmas Lights Group held its annual 'Boat Race' event on the River Ennig last weekend. With sweltering temperatures, the town came out to support the group with many of the visiting walkers from the Talgarth Walking Festival joining in. The Walking Festival was a huge hit again this year with an 86% uptake from last year, which is great news for the town, well done to all the organisers.
It was great to see all the smiling faces along the river bank, even some of the residents of the Glanennig House came out to enjoy the spectacle. The fundraising booth did will with people guessing on what boat would win on the various races. There was much merriment at the end of each race with volunteers and Town Councillors pitching in and the bridge end finish line to retrieve the boats. The annual children's Under 14's race was well entred with winners Tim and Theo Turner taking home the goody bag for the kids' race, the children made fantstic efforts again this year. The Talgarth Bowls Club were also in attendance with a fundraising tombola and 100 Club No's on sale.
Well done to all the activity organisers that weekend, Talgarth is better for all your efforts and a great place to live and work!
We hope you enjoy the images from the afternoon!
