Talgarth Primary School has only a few short weeks left before its closure. In September based on two sites the new School Ysgol y Mynydd Du will open until it moves lock stock and barrel to it's new home currently being built by builders 'Willmott Dixon' on the edge of Town. Along with its sister school in Bronllys, the two schoolsl are holding celebration events to mark the end of an era. Although staff, children and families are looking forward to the new build, it was a time on Friday to mark the passing of time. Ex teachers, Heads, pupils and families joined together for an afternoon of fun. With bouncy castles and slides form Bully Bouncers and the fantastic Talgarth Fire Brigade coming along with the engine there was plenty to occupy the children. A mobile food van from Tracey Evans, and lots of home made cakes provided plenty of refreshment and people enjoyed looking at old memorabilia from the school and old school photos. Members of the local clergy were joined by School Governors and freinds to reflect on the many years the school has enjoyed. At the end of the afternoon a raffle featuring many prizes from local business's ended the event.
The afternoon was organised by The Friends of Talgarth School and the School and was a great success. Here are a few of the pictures, we wish the school every success as it merges with Bronllys to become Ysgol y Myndd Du, creating a new chapter in the life of Talgarth.
