Pictured above Cllr. William Powell chats to Talgarth resident Mrs Watton about 'Cladding' concerns
FYI Talgarth recently went out with Talgarth County Councillor William Powell, to visit local Council dwellings that have recently been renovated with insulation cladding. As a consequence of the dramatic and terrible events of the fire at Grenfell Tower North Kensington, not far from our namesake Talgarth Road, London W14, Powys County Council (PCC) has been reviewing blocks and flats and other buildings that have had cladding fitted.
Cllr. Powell accompanied by Bryan Davies, Watch Manager - Talgarth Fire Brigade, visited Council tenants in Coed Y Bryn to hand out a statement regarding fire safety in blocks and flats, where wall insulation and cladding has been applied. The statement issued by PCC Head of Housing, Simon Inkson, was given to residents to allay fears. Bryan Davies attended to offer home fire safety advice and information to the residents. As a result of the review, it should be noted however, that there are no High-Rise blocks in Powys, the highest being only 4 storeys, so there are unlikely to be the same awful challenges encountered by the London Fire Brigade.
Cllr. Powell chatted to some of the residents them and handed out the information, asking if they had concerns following on from the tragic events in London - a link to the PCC statement is attached below.
If you have any concerns, please email either Cllr. Powell on: cllr.william.powell@powys.gov.uk
