What does BREXIT now mean to you?
BREXIT conference - 24th June 2017 at Gwernyfed High School
A stellar line up has been secured for a 'Brexit – A Year On' event which will be held in the historic Gwernyfed School near Hay-on-Wye on 24th June.
Sir Kier Starmer, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Brexit will be the keynote speaker, along with Neil Kinnock – former Vice President of the European Commission, Lord John Kerr the Former Head of the Foreign Office and author of Article 50, and Mark Drakeford, the Finance Minister for Wales.
Eluned Morgan, AM for Mid and West Wales who is hosting the conference said, “I am delighted that we have managed to convince so many senior politicians and experts to come and talk on this important matter which will have a huge impact on the future of Wales, especially after the chaos of the election! It is wonderful that so many people are happy to come to Hay which has a reputation as a platform for critical and intelligent thinking.”
Those speaking at the event include three brilliant women from the Wales Governance Centre; Chair of the Welsh Assembly Brexit Committee, David Rees, and Director of Wales for Europe Helen Birtwhistle.
We will be tackling the difficult issue of immigration in Wales and invited European politicians will give a view from the continent. Other speakers will debate the role of news media and democracy, the benefits and challenges of cutting EU red tape and the impact of the vote on women led by Joyce Watson AM.
Eluned Morgan has asked people who are interested in attending the Conference to visit: http://www.ticketsource.co.uk/BrexitHay17 to reserve tickets for this event, which is likely to attract a wide audience. (Discount voucher: BRX17)
