Children from both Bronllys and Talgarth Schools have been undertaking visits to the new site of 'Ysgol Mynydd Du'. The site next to Haygarth Surgery on the Hay Road, is making some fantastic progress despite recent weather conditions. In these pictures children accompanied by Governors from both Schools and Acting Head Miss Toone (future Head of the new school) walked with the children to the site where they were welcomed to the offices and given a brief update of works by Marc Clague 'Building Manager' for Wilmott Dixon. The firm are currently working on new builds in the school cluster area including Llangorse, Hay, Erwood and Clyro. After an introduction, the children, staff and visitors were given high-vis safety vests and hats before viewing the building works from a safe distance. Mr Clague, gave the children the opportunity to ask questions about what was happening at the works. Most of the boys attention was grabbed by the very large crane on-site working on the steel frame. The school site is due to be opened in February next year. However, the new school 'Ysgol Mynydd Du' will formally open in September as a school on two sites, until the children can move to their permanent new home! We will keep you updated of progress as time goes on.
