On March 15 Josephine Rumsey has been serving as the Town Clerk for 30 years. Unbeknown to Josephine during the Council meeting that night, she was surprised with a presentation of flowers and other gifts from the current members of the Council. Josephine who lives in Talgarth with husband Les, was surprised and overwhelmed by the unexpected presentation and told FYI "I didn't think anyone would remember, what a fantastic surprise! Iv'e never missed a meeting and I thought I might receive a card, but this is lovely!".
Current Mayor Jacqui Wilding made the presentation and went on to thank Josephine for her commitment and service to the role and to all the many Councillors who have come and gone.
The following week a surprise reception was organised in the Town Hall. With the collaboration of her husband Les and unknowingly to Josephine, friends, councillors past and present congregated in the Town Hall. A surprised Josephine was lured to the hall to be greeted with more flowers and a card signed by many in the community. Astonished she walked in and was amazed to see many colleagues from her role as the Town Clerk. A lovely spread of sandwiches and cakes had been put on to celebrate her 30 years of Public Service.
FYI extends it's gratitude and congratulations along with the Town in celebrating her commitment and achievement, well done Josie!
