Castle Terrace – back on the map thanks to a campaigning local resident!
FYI caught up with Mrs Margaret Evans of 3 Castle Terrace as a new road sign was installed by Powys County Council, earlier in the week.
After contacting Talgarth County Councillor William Powell, the terrace close to the Town’s Cattle Market is finally acknowledged with a street sign. Mrs Evans, who in recent years has been constantly answering the door to people searching for the mystery ‘Castle Terrace,’ has been campaigning for some time to have a proper sign erected. With the help of Cllr William Powell and local Powys road engineers, Ian Jones and Will Arrowsmith, Mrs Evans, also joined by Talgarth Town Councillor Pip Stockhaus-Turner, were caught on camera by FYI.
Mrs Evans’ father, the late Ray Martin, was himself a well-known and long serving Talgarth Town Councillor. Despite the cold wind, she managed a thumbs up at the job. She was also kind enough to provide a cup of tea and a home-made Welsh Cake to all involved in making the new sign a reality – and thus putting Castle Terrace firmly on the map!
